Mzansi top celebs encourages citizens to make their mark count

by Sergio Miller

In light of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent announcement that the day of the 7th democratic elections will take place on 29th May, many of mzansi’s favourite celebrities have taken to social media to encourage others make use of their rights and go to vote.

One of them is, entrepreneur and television presenter Bonang Matheba. The ever-vibrant media personality has been extremely vocal in her efforts of raising awareness on why voting this year is important.

Taking to the social media platform X, the star shared a series of posts encouraging fellow South Africans to vote.

In one of her more recent posts she wrote: “29 May 2024……Time to rock and roll… Please register to vote.”

She later shared a follow-up tweet revealing that she plans to be among the those who will be up extremely early on the day.

Furthermore, Bonang appears to not be the only one fed up on the choices the current government makes in running the country, but many more celebrities have united in this stance.

Taking to X, Zelda Grange, former personal assistant to the South Africa’s first black president Nelson Mandela, has done the same.

In a post of her own she tweeted:

It is your singular most important duty as a South African citizen to go and vote on 29 May. Make sure you are registered correctly. Information is freely available to all.

In past, the actor and comedian, Siv Ngesi has done the same, and often highlights the pitfalls of the current ruling party.
