As the school year commences for university scholars, many students will seek ways that will activate their productivity after the long summer holiday rest. While returning students turn to the methods that work for them, first years may experience a few trials and errors as they seek new ways that will work for them in university as they encounter this new journey.

Providing us with these tips is TikToker by the handle @prettygentofficial who takes to his TikTok social media platform to share various university tips. He starts the video off by stating that after registering students can access the student portal which will direct them to their course outline.

According to Law Insider – contract database and resource centre – a course outline is defined as “the document containing key information about the course. It contains important information such as course description, course schedule, learning outcomes, learning/assessment tasks, due dates for assessments, assessment criteria, assessment submission procedures, prescribed texts, recommended readings, grades of assessment, and your responsibilities as a participant.”

He then advises that scholars should note the important dates that are stated on the module outline. “Before the date arrives, go look for that material and make notes.” Pretty official further highlights that, “If it is something that needs to be practiced then practice it. If it is something that needs answers then answer it.”

“Summarize, have notes, and prepare for it, that is how you prepare for class.” He also mentions that the previously mentioned methods allow people to be fully prepared for class, giving them the advantage of being fully engaged in class.

Concluding his steps, he explains that this will allow students to approach lectures in times of confusion and be able to identify exactly what it is that the student does not understand. “the lecturer will be able to hear that you have knowledge and you know what you are talking about. [Showing that] there is premeditated learning that was happening .”
