Benefits of ice facials

If the idea of applying ice to your skin makes you feel too cold, pay attention to what we have to say. Skin icing has become a well-liked morning and night practice for better-looking skin, similar to putting your go-to skincare products in a skincare freezer to enjoy its cooling effects. For many years and for a variety of purposes, including cryotherapy, it has been utilized in spas and skincare treatments.

Ice has reportedly been applied to alleviate eyelid puffiness. But is there any empirical data? Read how to securely apply ice to your face as well as the alleged advantages.

Cryotherapy, also referred to as cold therapy, is the application of ice to a bodily part for therapeutic purposes.

Advocates of ice facials suggest rolling four or five ice cubes in a soft cotton cloth. They then recommend using the covered ice cubes to gently massage your face with circular motions for a minute or two.

The circular massage can be performed a few times every day on your:

  • jawline
  • chin
  • lips
  • nose
  • cheeks
  • forehead

Others prefer to add ice in a bowl full of water and dunk their face in it for thirty to forty second three to four times with breaks in between.

Candace Marino is a Los Angeles-based celebrity facialist and according to her, these are the benefits:

Reduce Inflammation

Candace explains that the idea is the same as when a doctor tells you to apply ice to a swelling or injury on your body; the difference is that now we’re using it to improve our appearance. Because cold therapy has the power to lessen skin inflammation, a major contributing factor to both acne and rosacea, it is beneficial for many people who have inflammatory skin diseases.

Reduce pore size

Skin icing helps to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and could be used to clear pores that have become clogged with dirt and extra sebum. Your skin (and foundation) will appear smoother as a result of icing, which tones the face.

Exfoliates the skin

“A cryofacial can help eliminate the upper layer of dead skin cells and promote new ones underneath to grow in a more equal, smooth distribution,” says Candace.

Soothes blemishes

Ice helps calm sensitive skin and lessen the swelling and redness of pimples. Also, because cooling exfoliates the skin, topical antibiotics and antibacterial medicines may be more effective at penetrating the pores because swollen skin makes it difficult for them to do so.
