Fashion designer Laduma Ngxokolo and contemporary artist Nelson Makamo have donated their first-ever collaboration tapestry piece to raise funds to help fight COVID-19. The duo donated the piece to SAve A Business where it will be on auction for a week. The proceeds will go towards business relief grants to small businesses on the organisation’s platform.

Laduma shared the news on social media. He said in part; “My brother @nelsonmakamo and I donated our 1st ever collaboration tapestry piece, that will be to be auctioned by @saveabusiness online for a week. Proceeds will be donated to several small relevant local businesses that are in a vulnerable state due to Covid.”

The collaboration came while on a retreat trip to Lesotho to find a meeting point for their work. The piece took two months to make and showcases Nelson Makamo’s woven artwork that is neatly bordered in a MAXHOSA framing.
