1. Whiten your teeth with oil pulling. Oil pulling has been lauded for its many health benefits, one that I can definitely attest to is whiter teeth. Simply swish a tablespoon of sunflower oil in your mouth for at least five minutes before you head to bed. You’ll notice the difference instantly.

2. Use the inside of a banana peel. Snack on a banana then use the peel to get pearly whites. Rub the inside of the banana peel over your teeth for about two minutes. The potassium, magnesium and manganese in the peel will be absorbed by your teeth, whitening them.

3. Reach for the activated charcoal. Dip a clean, wet toothbrush into powdered activated charcoal and brush in small, gentle circles for two minutes. Spit out and rinse your mouth thoroughly. Activated charcoal is highly absorbent and removes toxins and stains.

4. Brush with bicarbonate of soda. Baking soda or bicarbonate of soda is also another great way to lift stains from your teeth effectively and inexpensively. Just pack some bicarb on to your toothbrush in lieu of toothpaste and brush your teeth as normal.
