We speak to Dr. Anjana Bhana about her career in aesthetic medicine. What it’s all about and what makes it so interesting. by Fundiswa Nkwanyana
Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to help people feel good about their appearance. I love that my job allows me to boost my patients’ confidence and self-image, leading to an improved emotional well-being. Over the years, I’ve been helping to correct the imperfections of men and women across the country. This is something that I’m passionate about.
I offer non-surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic treatments. There is a growing interest in treatments that enhance the quality of the skin and regenerative medicine. Most of my clients are interested in skin peels to improve appearance and fillers to help with the appearance of wrinkles. The peels start from R500 and fillers from R3 500.
There are many misconceptions about aesthetic medicine. Society thinks that aesthetic medicine is for vain and rich women. But I treat people from all walks of life. I believe that it’s not about vanity, but confidence, everyone deserves to look and feel great.

I love my job, but it can be challenging. My clients can be demanding, and I must always keep their anxiety levels low. This can be difficult because I must ensure that it does not affect my family time. This industry is also very competitive and I always have to be on top of my game.
When it comes to aesthetic medicine, I advise people to go to a qualified practitioner. You need to be treated in a safe, sterile and medical environment by someone that is qualified because these treatments have risks and benefits.
