Getting rid of smelly feet

While we spend countless amounts of hours on our feet, it should come as no surprise when we begin to have sweaty feet.

It is summer and yet many of us are suffocating our feet with thick winter socks and we further stuff them up in closed shoes such as sneakers or formal shoes. It is no wonder that some of us get home and are forced to keep our sweaty shoes with a stench either outside or in the bathroom because the smell is too loud for them to be kept anywhere else in the house.

If you can relate to any of the above mentioned, then you have come to the right spot.

Healthline – provider of health information that is made available by registered health practitioners – elaborates that smelly feet are caused by a “buildup of sweat, which results in bacteria growth on the skin.” It is further mentioned that these bacterias can lead to fungal infections such as athletes’ foot and many others.

Home treatments that are advised by Healthline are:

  • Wash your feet at least once a day and pay special attention between your toes as bacteria is most likely to grow in those areas.
  • Cut your toenails often and keep them clean frequently.
  • File your feet often as the dead skin can often house bacteria when wet and soggy.
  • If you are involved in activities that can result in sweaty feet, be sure to change your sock at least once a day.
  • Alternate between shoes as this will aid towards allowing your shoes to get some air and dry out the sweat.
  • Stick to socks that “absorb moisture rather than keep it on your feet”

While the summer days are headed towards us no one wants to be caught with smelly or dry feet. Try out these home treatments and work towards getting tender feet.

Coming to the rescue with yet again another convenient and easy hack is Mbali Nhlapo, TikTok’s well known housekeeper. Mbali brings us a quick method to try out. Making sure that you maximise all things that are available in your kitchen.
