Review: Hoyohoyo Chartwell Lodge

Our features writer Fundiswa Nkwanyana tells us why she fell in love with Hoyohoyo Chartwell Lodge during her one-night stay.

The first thing I noticed about the lodge is that it has a farmhouse charm. This gives it a home-away-from-home appeal that I appreciated because I was homesick at the time.

I loved that it is conveniently located within close proximity to the Fourways precinct and Lanseria Airport. But once in the lodge, it is easy to forget that you’re still in the city because it has a peaceful aura.

Ambience

Living and working in the hustle and bustle of the city can be exhausting. And, the thought of going away for some fresh air can be a daunting task. But, I am glad that

I had the opportunity to take a nap in a luxurious, manicured garden by the pool and enjoy the tranquil and natural atmosphere.

Bedrooms

I loved the intimate country-styled rooms that bring about a modern farmhouse ambience. They made me feel like I was tucked away in a secluded farm surrounded by nature. Most of them open up to a lavish garden and pool.

Ntwanano Restaurant

I enjoyed the hearty meals the lodge offered through its cosy restaurant. Ntombi – the resident chef kept them simple with a home-cooked meal touch. Even better was the fact that the menu and wine selection is very comprehensive for a small restaurant.

Wisani Day Spa

I was treated to a full-body massage in a peaceful room, leaving me rejuvenated. The masseuse was attentive, and didn’t mind customising the massage to my needs. The staff members were warm and friendly, often asking how they could improve my stay. Overall, I loved and enjoyed my stay at this hidden gem, and will be returning for another visit.
