7 ways to pack like a pro

ways to pack like a pro

Do you hate packing for a trip? Whether it’s a weekend away, a business trip or you’re moving to another city it always seems like you’ve packed too much or not enough.

You don’t want to end up over packing or under packing or, even worse, end up paying too much for extra luggage at the airport. This week we come to the rescue with the best tips for packing like a pro.

Follow these hacks and you’ll be packing like a pro on your next trip.

1. Use the right luggage. Yes you love your old suitcase, but modern luggage designs have more space and include divided sections, compression straps, 360-degree wheels and even digital tracking tags. Invest in a new suitcase – it’s worth it.

2. Use compression bags. Some people hate the idea of using compression bags – they are known to wrinkle clothes, but they do give your suitcase a little extra space.

3. Use the rolling method. Rolling your clothes is one of the best suitcase packing tips. Rolling clothes conserves space and makes it easier to find clothes in your suitcase.

4. Pack only what you need. Have a clear picture of what type of activities you’re going to be doing on your trip. Don’t pack for what-if scenarios.

Not going anywhere fancy? Then leave your evening gown at home. Know very well that you won’t work out, despite how much you want to? Leave the fitness wear behind.

5. Go digital. Apart from travel documents, you should probably go paperless. Books and maps can all be read from a screen, saving you copious amounts of space.

6. Test drive your suitcase. Ever had your suitcase break down on you in the middle of the airport? Well, it happens and it is as inconvenient as it sounds. Carry your luggage (carry-on and otherwise) around your house before your trip. Try lugging it up and down stairs. You will be able to gauge if it is too heavy or if it will break down on you.

7. Travel insurance. If you are packing quite a bit, protect your items with travel insurance. It seems like an unnecessary expense, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
