Television personality and musician Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye was expected to return to the Germiston Magistrate’s Court today, 24 August 2026, but did not appear before the court, citing ill health.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that a warrant for Maarohanye’s arrest was issued after he failed to attend the scheduled proceedings. The warrant, however, has been held over and will not be immediately executed, with the matter postponed to 7 September 2026.

Jub Jub’s charges
Maarohanye is facing two charges arising from an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on 14 June 2026.
The charges are discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing an object likely to make another person believe it is a firearm.
According to the NPA, Maarohanye’s legal representatives told the court that he had been booked off sick since 20 August and had a medical report to support his absence.

Despite this explanation, the court issued the warrant but ordered that it be held over until his next appearance.
The latest development comes after the case was postponed in June to allow police to conduct further investigations. During that appearance, Maarohanye remained out on R5,000 bail, which had been granted by the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg following an urgent application.
His next scheduled appearance is 7 September 2026 at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, when the court is expected to deal with the matter following today’s failed appearance and the warrant that has been held over.
