‘Sesikude’: Uncool MC debuts EP and tributes how far he has come

After years of commanding massive crowds, hyping up stages, and shaping the energy of the country’s biggest entertainment events as a premier master of ceremonies, Uncool MC is stepping fully into his own light.

Released via gamma., his highly anticipated debut EP, Sesikude, is a powerful audio journal that translates to “we have come far.”

Blending vibrant amapiano rhythms, deep log drums, and soulful melodies, the project serves as a heartfelt tribute to his roots, his industry evolution, and the relentless hustle that got him to where he is today.

From Kwa-Thema to international stages

Sesikude draws heavily from Uncool MC’s personal history, starting from his childhood memories growing up in Kwa-Thema on the East Rand of Johannesburg to navigating the local music scene and eventually travelling the globe to perform on international stages.

Having built an impressive career supporting artists, hosting high-profile festivals like Cotton Fest and Piano People, and racking up over 140 million Spotify streams through collaborative hits, the transition into a recording artist and producer marks a monumental milestone.

“This is a reflection of my decision to transition from an MC into a full performing artist and DJ,” Uncool MC shares. “I’ve decided to share my story of my experiences throughout my childhood memories… and rubbing shoulders with my fellow colleagues in the industry.”

Star-studded collaborations and sound

Spanning seven tracks, Sesikude features an enviable roster of South African heavyweights who help bring the project’s vibrant narrative to life. Tracks like Setla (featuring Focalistic, Shaun 101, DJ Maphorisa, and N T S A K O XVI) set an energetic pace, while collaborations such as Mazkhethela with Tycoon, Ngasho featuring Myztro, and tracks featuring Royal Musiq, Azi, and Nomfundo Kayy showcase the EP’s sonic diversity.

Rather than chasing quick streaming trends, the project is rooted in authenticity. Uncool MC notes that years of collaborating with other musicians allowed him to identify his own unique voice and sonic strengths.

“I want people to take positivity, endurance, and consistency from the project, cause those are the elements that helped me come this far in this journey,” he emphasises.

Entering a new era

With an exclusive listening session hosted at CÉ LA VI in Sandton drawing rave reviews from media and industry peers, Sesikude proves Uncool MC is much more than the voice behind the microphone.

He is a visionary curator of South African sound culture, ready to claim his space at the forefront of the music scene.
