Senzo Meyiwa’s family still in pain 10 years later, mother pleads with Khumalos for answers

by Kim Mathee

It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since the senseless killing of renowned soccer player Senzo Meyiwa. While the decade-long murder case is still ongoing, the beloved stars’ mother, Ntombifuthi Meyiwa is now pleading with the Khumalo family to provide answers to her son’s death.

This comes days after singer Zandie Khumalo made a shocking revelation about who she thinks was responsible for his death. During an exclusive interview with eNCA, the sister of singer Kelly Khumalo revealed that she believed it was the late soccer star’s widow Mandisa Mkhize who hired a hitman to execute the killing.

Senzo’s mother on the other hand is desperately looking for justice for her son. While eNCA broadcaster Manqoba Mchunu asked what Ntombifuthi believes happened on the day of her son’s passing, she responded by saying, “I can’t say whether it was them or not, but what I will say is that I just want justice to be served.”

Ntombifuthi went on to send a message to the mother of Kelly and Zandie Khumalo to plead with her to reveal what she knows about Senzo’s murder.

“Mama, you want to die without telling us how my child died. I am asking you, Mama. When you and your daughters are together, don’t you think of the family that lost their child? Are you not concerned about Senzo’s children? You know how much Senzo loved his family,” Ntombifuthi told the broadcaster.

With a heavy heart, Ntombifuthi shared with eNCA her wish that all those who were present at the time of his passing could be called in to testify and reveal the truth about what happened.

On the day that he was killed, Senzo reportedly visited his girlfriend Kelly when gunmen entered her mother’s home and took his life.

Since then, police have made progress with five arrests, though the investigation into who ordered the alleged hit continues.
