The anticipation for the annual DSTV Delicious Festival wasn’t high enough, it is safe to say it is now officially at its peak as the event organisers have been strategically revealing new characters that will be gracing the stage at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

The annual event has announced a thrilling line-up with the legendary Janet Jackson headlining on Saturday, and Jill Scott headlining on Sunday, where a plethora of local talent will join them, such as the likes of Sjava, Thandiswa Mazwai, Cassper Nyovest, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and many more.

After recently announcing that the Motswako originator, Khuli Chana’s performance would be in honour of the great Supa Mega, AKA, the event organisers have come with another thrilling surprise for attendees. Okmalumkoolkat, born Smiso Mkhasibe, is set to honour one of his closest friends in the music industry, the late Boss Zonke, Riky Rick.

This announcement is an exciting one as the festival is not only paying tribute to one of the most influential figures in Mzansi’s hip-hop scene, but they are doing it in a way that is true to him and what he stood for and believed in. It also does not come as a surprise as the close relationship between the two artists dates back to their ‘Boyznbucks’ days.

Furthermore, Makhado’s catalogue is insanely stacked, ensuring that anyone performing these classics is bound to have an electrifying performance with smash hits such as ‘Nafukwa’ and ‘UNGAZINCISHI’. The fact that Okmalumkoolkat has established himself as one of the better performers in the country gives the people more to look forward to.

The impact that both Riky and Okmalumkoolkat have had on the culture cannot be stated enough, as the current hip-hop space is a reflection of their influences.
