Media personality Minnie Dlamini claims comments made about her on MacGyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho’s Podcast and Chill had serious consequences for both her career and emotional well-being, including the collapse of an R897,000 Nivea campaign.

According to a recent Sunday Times report, Dlamini detailed the alleged impact in a 79-page statement filed at the Equality Court sitting at the Johannesburg High Court.
Dlamini is seeking R2.5 million in damages from MacG, with R1 million sought for herself and R1.5 million earmarked for Women for Change, a non-profit organisation.
Minnie Dlamini links podcast controversy to lost Nivea deal
According to the report, Minnie claims that her relationship with Nivea had developed over several years, beginning around 2023 and continuing through various campaigns. By late 2024 and early 2025, she was involved in promoting products including Nivea Radiant & Beauty, Even Glow and Rich Nourishing Lotion.
Her court statement reportedly identifies an R897,000 campaign as the clearest example of the financial impact she says followed the podcast controversy.
The campaign was handled by Dentsu Creative CPT, with Dlamini’s team involved in discussions around scripts, captions, voiceovers, product positioning and other campaign requirements. According to her account, the commercial relationship changed after the controversial podcast episode.
Dlamini also claims that the fallout ultimately resulted in the campaign proceeding without her.
What was allegedly said?
The entire dispute relates to an April 2025 episode of Podcast and Chill during which MacG made derogatory comments about Dlamini, including speculation about her personal hygiene. These remarks sparked widespread criticism on social media, quickly making the controversy a major talking point in South African entertainment circles.

Her confidence has been impacted
According to Sunday Times, Minnies describes feeling hurt, anxious and increasingly self-conscious following the comments.
It is reported that she told the court the experience affected how she viewed herself and her interactions with the public. In her 79-page statement, Minnies also details being “blackballed” in the entertainment industry, with concerns that brands and industry figures could become reluctant to associate with her.
The legal dispute remains ongoing, and Dlamini’s allegations have yet to be finally determined by the court.
For now, the reported R897,000 Nivea campaign stands as one of the central examples cited by Dlamini in explaining the professional damage she claimed resulted from the podcast controversy.
