The annual DSTV Delicious Festival is almost upon us and in true fashion, the event aims to pay homage to the 30 years of creative freedom South Africa has enjoyed. The event promises an electrifying experience through a mind-blowing fusion of culture, music and food.

Among the many big names that are set to grace the stage at the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit, the Motswako originator, Khuli Chana will be performing. His performance will be an honour and a tribute to the legacy of the late hip-hop legend AKA.

Taking to Instagram, the rapper shared the news with his followers, “It is an honour to rock @dstvdeliciousfestival stage in celebration of the life of SUPA MEGA @akaworldwide on the 21st of September,” he captions.

Before his tragic passing in 2023, AKA had established himself as one of the most influential artists to come out of South Africa. His music resonated with many, as his sound was distinctly South African. His love for his country also gained him a huge following, as he would always advocate for anything that was in the best interest of the country and its people.

Recently, it was announced that the rapper’s iconic ‘Levels‘ album would be re-engineered and re-issued on vinyl, which would further ensure that his legacy will always be remembered.

Being a trailblazer in the industry himself, it is fitting that the festival organisers bestow this honour on Khuli Chana, as the impact that his work has had on artists such as AKA is undeniable. It is almost impossible to think of South African hip-hop without considering Khuli Chana. “Known for his infectious beats and captivating performances, he will pay tribute to the legendary AKA, bringing the heat and energy you don’t want to miss.”
