Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs veteran Reneilwe Letsholonyane could be finding himself homeless after failed bond repayments have resulted in the possibility of the bank repossessing his Fourways house.

According to the news and entertainment publication, The South African, the former footballer who is affectionately known as “Yeye” has been struggling to keep up with the payments for his R1 million house. The above-mentioned publication also reports that he has an outstanding balance of R450 000 in addition to this, his municipal levies have accumulated to a total of R730 000.

With the star footballer failing to meet the demands of managing his debt, Standard Bank has since taken matters into its own hands by heading to court.

After ignoring calls and failing to respond to letters of demand, news publication City Press reveals that the bank’s manager for home services collections, deposed an affidavit which states that the bank has no choice but to apply for an execution order.

The papers read: “A warrant for attached and ultimate sale in execution will not be possible without the court granting an order authorising the execution against the property. The nature of the debt is monies lent and advanced, secured by a mortgage bond registered over the immovable property of Reneilwe Letsholonyane. The amount of his debt is contained in the relevant mortgage loan agreement.”

Meanwhile, when City Press reached out to Reneilwe, he denied the allegations that he was ignoring the bank.

“I am trying to sell the property privately, so it’s not true that I have not been communicating with them.”

He told the publication that he has been clear in his communication with the bank.

“I have been telling them throughout the process.”
