While Anele hosts the live show on Wednesdays and Saturdays, rapper and media personality ProVerb hosts PowerBall on Tuesdays and Fridays.

On Saturday, 6 June 2026, she shared a snap of herself at the National Lottery studio wearing a pink suit and captioned the post, “Gotta look like a million bucks to give away a MILLION BUCKS!”

South Africans divided as Anele Mdoda hosts live Lotto draw

Several local members of the online community gathered on X to express their thoughts.

X user @Radebe_merci received the most attention after they shared their opinion online:

“Same face on all TV channels… Anele Mdoda, give other kids a chance. On the radio, it’s you, on TV it’s you, everywhere it’s you. We will never grow as a country while we have gatekeepers like you and Somizi. SA media needs fresh voices, not the same monopoly year after year.”

@Malindy__ agreed with the above, writing, “South Africa is overflowing with talent, yet opportunities seem to circulate among the same few people. Fresh voices deserve a chance to shine, too.”

Coming to Anele’s defence, @sleekcliq said, “Don’t act as if she hired herself. If they didn’t take her, they were going to take another famous person.”

@Mokgaga_GP also disagreed and wrote, “Nonsense, y’all prefer to accuse her of eating PPE money cause her hard work offends you.”
