#MCM – Why we love Mr. Cashtime, K.O

by Bongiwe Tshiqi

Ntokozo Mdluli, famously known as K.O of Teargas, gives us details of his next move and how he lives loudly South African.

By Boitumelo Mmakou

The self-titled Mr Cashtime and his Cashtime Family have crowned a local hip-hop sound Skhanda music. The group has been well received by music lovers and K.O plans to make his solo career just as much of a success as the music group he is a part of. We spoke to the interesting musician about his future plans…

1.What makes you live loudly and proudly South African?

I am proudly living loudly South African because I am able to showcase local music to the world. My music represents South Africa and screams local hip hop.

2. Your album Skhanda Republic has been well received, what’s your take on this?

The reception has been amazing. This is my first solo album and I am happy with the amount of work that was put into it. As an artist, you always want to keep at what you are doing and keep your success constant. For me, to still be relevant years after I started while competing with new talent is priceless. I will continue with my work and want to continue inspiring others to live their dreams.

3. This year marks your 10th anniversary in the music business; what does this mean to you?

It is a milestone for me. I am happy to still be making music and performing on stage; to still do events and be recognised. I have just begun my journey. Teargas was an award-winning hip-hop group; I want to be an award-winning solo artist. I am at the peak of my career and plan to keep reinventing myself.

4. What’s next for Mr Cashtime?

I am taking my time to build my brand; not watching what the next guy is doing, but focusing on me. I am careful with my next step; I want anything I do next to be perfect. I have been doing a lot of travelling around Africa, promoting my music; and I plan on visiting many other parts of the world.
