Catching Up With Mi Casa’s Mo T

Moshe Kgasoane, famously known as Mo T, is not just a good trumpeter, but a doting father and great husband. This is what he had to say about his band and his life. Mo-T

Mi Casa just recently announced an international tour, please tell us more about this.

Yes, we are going on an international tour. This will be our very first and official European tour. People across the globe have spoken and we are going to meet our fans in that part of the world.

How did you get into playing the trumpet?

I use to watch my dad play it. He saw my interest and taught me how to play. The rest, as they say, is history.

Often the drummer, guitarist and any instrumentalist are not noticed as much as the vocalist. You, on the other hand, have just as much recognition as the other members in Mi Casa. What would you say makes a great instrumentalist?

Firstly, you need to treat your instrument with care, make the instrument your voice by using it to show your talent. Lastly, do research – find out who else in other bands plays the instrument and aspire to be like them. mo

It seems difficult for music groups to stay together. How do you and the guys do it – what is the secret behind Mi Casa’s success?

We have a lot of respect for each other and give each other space; we have our own lives and give each other time to focus on that. Apart from that, we always find a way to compromise because it’s three minds that have to make one decision – this isn’t often easy but we’ve learned to work well with each other. God has kept us together and opened a lot of doors for us.

We know J’Something is a good cook, can you cook just as well or do you have your own special gift?

(Laughs) I am an okay cook. What I am good at, though, is pranking people. J’Something and I love to fool around because we love to laugh. micasa

You recently turned 27, does this age come with any change?

My life has changed, not just in the last year but since I met the guys. They are not just band members but my family. I am grateful to have met them. At 27, I am grateful for the blessings God’s given me.

What is your ultimate goal?

I love telling stories, perhaps in the future I’ll write a book about my life with Mi Casa, and this could be a contribution with the entire group.
