Tsakane Matlala, the wife of businessman Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala, is expected to appear alongside three co-accused in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court sometime today, 23 September 2026, following their arrests in connection with an alleged fraud and corruption matter.

According to IOL, police arrested the four suspects in different parts of Gauteng on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, as they investigated allegations that fraudulent documents were used to acquire properties and secure a lease agreement.
National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed the four suspects’ court appearance.
Alleged fraudulent lease
The investigation reportedly centres on allegations involving a fraudulent lease and the use of false documentation.
Reports indicate the property transaction involved a luxury property in Pretoria’s Waterkloof area, with almost R1.2 million allegedly paid upfront.
Tsakane was among the suspects arrested during the police operation. She is reportedly the second person arrested in connection with the alleged fraudulent lease, while three other suspects were also taken into custody.
The precise roles of the three co-accused and the full details of the allegations are expected to emerge as the matter comes before court.

Separate case involving Tsakane Matlala
The latest arrest comes while Tsakane is already facing charges in a separate high-profile criminal case alongside her husband and three other accused.
The National Prosecuting Authority previously confirmed that Cat, Musa Kekana, Tiego Floyd Mabusela, Nthabiseng Nzama and Tsakane are facing 25 charges in the separate Gauteng High Court matter. These include attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, money laundering, and other offences.
The five accused pleaded not guilty when the trial formally began in July 2026. Tsakane faces, among other charges, an allegation that she was an accessory after the fact to the attempted murder of actress and socialite Tebogo Thobejane.
The State’s case in that matter is continuing in the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.
Court appearance expected
Today’s Pretoria Magistrate’s Court appearance relates to the newer fraud and corruption investigation and is separate from the ongoing High Court trial.
The four suspects remain accused of persons at this stage, and the allegations against them have not been tested in court. Their appearance is expected to provide further information about the charges, the State’s case, and possible bail proceedings.
