South African rapper Mthembeni ‘Emtee’ Ndevu will have to wait until October for the next development in his ongoing protection-order case after proceedings at the Midrand Magistrate’s Court were postponed again on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.
Emtee appeared in court for the latest stage of the matter, which stems from an alleged breach of a protection order involving his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy.
The matter was postponed to 2 October 2026, when his legal team is expected to show why the rapper should not be prosecuted.

State refuses to withdraw charges
The latest development comes despite Chinsamy previously indicating that she wanted to withdraw her complaint. According to Daily Sun, the state has declined to withdraw the charges because of the nature of the allegations.
The defence was given additional time to make representations to the prosecution. Emtee’s lawyer, Advocate Kwena Manamela, was reportedly not present in court during Tuesday’s proceedings.

Emtee remains out on bail
Emtee’s R2,000 bail remains extended while the matter is pending. His bail had previously been revoked in August after he was accused of breaching conditions that prohibited him from contacting Chinsamy. He was subsequently granted bail again, subject to conditions that include not contacting his estranged wife except when communication concerns their children.
The rapper had spent 16 days in custody before being released on bail earlier this month. Daily Sun reported that his bail was extended during his 10 September 2026 court appearance, with the defence given until 15 September 2026 to submit representations.
What happens next?
The case is now expected back before the Midrand Magistrates Court on 2 October 2026. The next appearance is expected to provide clarity on whether the prosecution will proceed with the charges against Emtee.
As the legal proceedings continue, the allegations against Emtee remain allegations and have not been tested in court.
