Television personality and musician Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court sometime today, 7 September 2026, as his firearm-related case returns to court.
Maarohanye is facing charges relating to the alleged discharge of a firearm in a public place and pointing an object likely to make another person believe it was a firearm. The case stems from an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale in June.

Court appearance follows missed date
The latest appearance comes after Maarohanye failed to attend court on 24 August, with his legal team telling the court that he was unable to attend due to ill health.
A warrant of arrest was issued following his failure to appear. However, the warrant was held over until his scheduled return to court on 7 September.
According to the allegations, the confrontation escalated, and a firearm was allegedly discharged. The driver reportedly escaped unharmed and reported the matter to police.
Maarohanye remains out on R5,000 bail while the criminal proceedings continue.

Jub Jub denies allegations
Maarohanye has denied the allegations against him and has previously described the case as fabricated. His legal team has also challenged aspects of the State’s version of events.
The matter has been postponed several times as investigations continued. The State has indicated that it is ready to proceed with the prosecution, making today’s appearance significant for the next stage of the case.
EWN reports that the Germiston Magistrate’s Court is expected to address the outstanding warrant and the further progress of the criminal case. The outcome of today’s proceedings will determine the next steps in the matter.
