Miss South Africa Top 19 contestant and Afro-soul singer Azana wants to instil self-love in young women by embracing her natural looks, hoping to inspire them to do the same.

Azana on natural beauty
Daily Sun reported that the 26-year-old hitmaker, born Makhosazana Masango from Chesterville, Durban, is confident that her natural look will help her get far in the pageant. While Azana confessed to still using makeup, she explained that it refines what’s naturally there to complement her natural beauty.
The Afro-soul singer told the above-mentioned publication that she has always kept her natural look to reclaim her beauty.
“Now I’m a Miss SA contestant with my natural hair. It’s refreshing and makes me believe more in myself,” she said.

Azana’s passion for positive change
Azana shared that besides embracing natural beauty, she also promotes positive change through her music. With songs such as Zalabantu, Shona Malanga and Ngize Ngifike, her music empowers and affirms women.
Above all, she believes in the importance of improving the country’s literacy and education system by assisting with libraries, teaching and learning equipment.
Empowering young women
The singer explained why empowering young women is important to her, sharing that there is still a lot that needs to be done in reassuring girls that they should believe in themselves. She added that there are still many communities that raise their children to see themselves as less equal or as less entitled.
“That’s where I come in, as someone passionate about women’s empowerment.”
