Ma-E and Focalistic tease new collaboration together

Legendary rapper Ma-E took to Instagram last night, 24 August 2026, to share a snippet of his new song amapiano star Focalistic. The collaboration is an amapiano blend, mixing Focalistic’s iconic sound with Ma-E’s rap talents.

Ma-E shares snippet of song with Focalistic

The South African hip-hop star Ma-E shared the reel on his official Instagram page. The video showcases Focalistic and himself vibing to their song at what seems to be a club. He shared the post with a short caption: “Ma-E x Focalistic coming soon.”

Ma-E’s impact

Ma-E, real name Ezee Hanabe, is known for his start in the musical group Teargas, alongside K.O and Ntukza. He has made a name for himself in his own solo career. His Township Counsellor album earned critical acclaim.

Ma-E has sustained a 15-year-long career, managing to keep a musical sound that has stayed relevant across many generations of South African listeners.

Focalistic’s impact

Focalistic’s sound of blending rap and amapiano in his own music, since his debut song Ke Star, makes this collaboration long overdue. Known as President ya Straata, the Ga-Rankuwa-born star is one of the many amapiano artists who have brought the South African-born genre to the global stage. 

Hopping on the track together

Their collaboration is essentially relevant and natural. With Ma-E’s hip-hop expertise and Focalistic’s contemporary sound, the song has promise to grace the global stage. If anything, locally, the song seems to have South African listeners waiting on the edge of their seats in anticipation of its release.
