DJ Zinhle comes clean about Black Coffee’s car

“Somebody is going to find out today that I messed their car up,” said the star with a laugh during her interview.

Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, DJ Zinhle shared that while she could drive, she was more used to her home province’s stress-free roads than the busy Gauteng streets.

At the time, she had to travel from Pretoria for a photoshoot in Sandton; that was when her generous friend, Black Coffee, lent her his Polo. What was supposed to be a smooth trip quickly took a turn, as DJ Zinhle got lost along the way. Having left the bustling city at 2pm, the DJ only arrived at her destination five hours later.

Now frustrated and flustered, DJ Zinhle attempted to make an easy turn near a McDonald’s restaurant on Greyston Drive. “I tried to turn, but I didn’t see the pavement, so I scratched his car in front.”

Take a look at DJ Zinhle’s confession in a snippet of the interview posted by X user @KingMntungwa below:

At the time of publication, Black Coffee has not addressed the 20-year-old incident.

Black Coffee’s relationship with DJ Zinhle

As she mentioned during the podcast, DJ Zinhle first crossed paths with Black Coffee before meeting veteran music producer Oskido.

She met the Grammy-winning musician after she was invited to spin the decks at Metro FM. Her talent piqued the interest of Black Coffee, who called the station to ask who was providing the infectious beats.

Days later, she met Black Coffee at another radio station, where she approached him and said, “I’m that girl who was deejaying that night.” According to DJ Zinhle, his response was the following:

“Really? You are so good. You should really take it seriously.”

They exchanged numbers, but the My Name Is hitmaker soon lost it after her phone was stolen. They eventually reconnected when she visited Pretoria.
