Why DJ Zinhle keeps her marriage private

During the interview, DJ Zinhle explained that while she has built a successful career in the public eye, she prefers to keep her marriage with Mörda, real name Bongani Mahosana, out of the spotlight.

She shared that she has learned the importance of protecting certain parts of her life, saying not everything needs to be shared with the public. According to the star, maintaining boundaries has helped her enjoy her relationship without the pressure that often comes with public scrutiny.

DJ Zinhle added that she and her husband focus on building their relationship away from social media and outside opinions, choosing to prioritise peace over public validation.

On friendships and growing older

The Umlilo hitmaker also reflected on how her friendships have changed over the years.

She admitted that as she has grown older, her circle has naturally become smaller. Rather than maintaining a large group of friends, she now values meaningful relationships built on trust, honesty and mutual respect.

DJ Zinhle said she no longer feels pressured to keep people in her life simply because they have known each other for years. Instead, she believes friendships should evolve and continue to add value to both people’s lives.

Learning to protect her peace

Another recurring theme throughout the conversation was the importance of protecting her peace.

The entrepreneur explained that she has become more intentional about where she invests her energy, whether in business, family or personal relationships. She believes setting healthy boundaries has contributed significantly to her happiness and overall well-being.

Despite being one of South Africa’s most recognisable public figures, DJ Zinhle said she has become comfortable with disappointing people when necessary if it means staying true to herself and safeguarding her mental and emotional well-being.

Balancing motherhood, business and fame

Beyond her personal relationships, DJ Zinhle also spoke about juggling motherhood with her thriving business empire and music career.

She acknowledged that balance isn’t always easy, but credited planning, discipline and a reliable support system for helping her manage multiple responsibilities. For her, success isn’t only measured by career achievements but also by creating a fulfilling family life.

The conversation highlighted a more reflective side of the DJ, showing how her priorities have shifted over the years from seeking external validation to focusing on personal happiness, healthy relationships and lasting peace.

Fans praised the interview for its honesty, with many appreciating DJ Zinhle’s openness about marriage, friendship and the realities of navigating life in the public eye.
