Paxton talks about music industry struggles

According to IOL, the singer spoke on the Plugged In Podcast, where she expressed the challenges of becoming an overnight success as a teenager. She said, “I had to learn a lot of difficult life lessons at a young age. One of them being that sometimes money doesn’t change the people who have it; it changes the people around them.”

Paxton won the show when she was just 17 years old, becoming one of the youngest winners in the show’s history.

She continued to explain that one of the biggest obstacles is maintaining a sustainable career in an industry where opportunities can be unpredictable.

When listening to the clip, the singer added, “It was a different kind of reality. I was still young, so I took everything at face value, but I had to quickly learn that what I pour into others I won’t necessarily receive in return,” she explained.

Despite the difficulties, Paxton remains optimistic about the future of South African music. As she has grown and toured all over the world, she encourages young artists to stay authentic, continue learning, and never lose sight of their passion.

Every artist continues to evolve, and Paxton’s journey will inspire others to pursue their dreams with determination, patience, and resilience.
