While celebrating Bafana Bafana’s efforts, media personality DJ Sbu rocked a white South African Football Association (SAFA) x Adidas jersey, which many thought was a dupe of the original. The star quickly hit back at naysayers, noting that ‘fake’ wasn’t in his vocabulary or wardrobe.

The collaborative jersey normally comes in the signature yellow and green, drawing inspiration from Bafana Bafana’s 2010 FIFA World Cup jersey.

Nevertheless, the DJ took to his Instagram account on 28 June 2026 and shared a celebratory video with friends. The radio personality also seemed to don a clean-shaven beard, with no dreadlocks in sight.

Take a look at the video below.

DJ Sbu claps back at fake jersey claims

While some social media users shared how much they loved DJ Sbu’s new look, Instagram user @acee_sa wrote, “Isn’t that the fake t-shirt they were warning people about?”

Seeing the comment, the former Friends Like These host replied, “I don’t wear fake anything. I wear amaCant Get.” He did not share where he purchased the crisp white item.

South Africans applaud DJ Sbu’s clean, new look

Despite the one controversial comment, many other internet users, including actor Thapelo Mokoena, brought positivity to the post.

“We have missed this clean, fresh DJ Sbu. Looking great, Abuti,” shared @katlie_set.

@queen_mokibi told the DJ, “Keep this look, sir. You can still remain high vibrational and still look good. You just have to avoid low vibrational activities.”

@kay_mediahouse added under the post, “You look so fresh. Please stay this way. This is the DJ Sbu we know and love.”

A curious @sphe_zikhali asked, “Grootman, where did you buy this one?”
