Appearing on the Engineer Your Life podcast hosted by Lungelo KM, the artist broke her silence regarding the devastating loss of her late fiancé, offering viewers a candid look into identity, deep personal tragedy, and the long journey through grief.

“Something definitely died”: Navigating loss and identity

During the emotional episode, titled Reality of Grieving My Late Fiancé & Overcoming My Insecurities, Gigi Lamayne shared how the passing of the man she intended to marry fundamentally altered her life and personality.

Describing the experience as the most painful ordeal she has ever endured, she admitted that anyone who knew her before the tragedy would be encountering a completely different version of her today.

She explained how the weight of the tragedy shifted her emotional responses, noting that while she used to cry easily, processing such profound heartbreak left her feeling hardened at times.

The rapper reflected openly on the spiritual and internal questions that consumed her during the aftermath, wrestling with self-doubt and asking whether she was somehow deserving of such heartache as she fought to rebuild her life.

The sacrifices of love and finding peace

Beyond detailing the lingering grief, Gigi revealed the depth of commitment she held for the relationship, sharing that she had been entirely willing to walk away from her music career and public life to build a quiet, fulfilling future with her late partner. Recognising that grief is non-linear, she acknowledged that while the pain subsides on certain days, it returns in heavy waves on others.

The sit-down also touched on her journey toward healing, self-acceptance, and navigating romantic growth alongside fellow hip-hop artist Reason.

By stepping up to share her journey so openly on Engineer Your Life, Gigi offers a comforting, grounded voice to many who carry unspoken losses, showing that while grief reshapes us, moving forward remains possible.
