South African gospel star Thinah Zungu has once again found himself at the centre of social media debate after a controversial scene from the television drama Mother of All resurfaced online. The clip has reignited conversations about the intersection of faith, entertainment and public expectations.

The resurfaced footage quickly gained traction across social media platforms, prompting fresh criticism from some viewers who questioned the gospel singer’s involvement in the production.

Thinah Zungu says he has already apologised

Responding to the renewed backlash, Zungu made it clear that he does not intend to issue another apology. As reported by Briefly News, the award-winning musician clarified that he had already addressed the matter when the show first aired and believes the issue had long been resolved.

According to The Citizen, the gospel star further explained that the scene was filmed years ago before he was ordained as a pastor. He also noted that accepting the acting role was a professional decision made during a challenging period for many creatives.

Balancing faith and entertainment

The controversy has once again highlighted the pressures faced by public figures who navigate both religious leadership and mainstream entertainment. While some supporters have defended Zungu’s right to pursue acting opportunities, others maintain that faith leaders are held to a different standard.

The debate reflects broader questions about how audiences separate fictional performances from personal beliefs and values.

Why the story is trending

As discussions continue online, the resurfaced clip has become one of the latest examples of how old content can quickly find a new audience in the digital age. For Zungu, however, the message remains unchanged: the matter was addressed before, and he is ready to move forward.
