Unathi Nkayi and Lerato Mvelase rally behind Bonko Khoza
On 16 May 2026, Nirvana made headlines when she released a screen recording of the email she had sent to Desiree Markgraaff, one of the founding partners of the production company The Bomb Shelter, also known as Bomb Productions.
The actress, who now wishes to quit acting, alleged that Bonko “thrusted” against her while he was “in character.” She accused Desiree of denying that there was evidence of the incident. Bonko denied the allegations.
The attention received prompted the production company to release a statement on 20 May 2026. It revealed that “the investigation concluded without sufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations.”
Award-winning actress Lerato Mvelase, who sided with Bonko, reshared the statement on her Instagram account and said:
“Mothers pray for your sons, wives pray for your husbands, sisters pray for your brothers.”
Unathi hopped into the comment section with tonnes of red heart emojis and stated, “As a boy mom, I am grateful @bomb_productions released this.”

Unathi Nkayi receives backlash
While some social media users on X (formerly Twitter) agreed with Unathi, others expressed disappointment after seeing a screenshot of her comment.
Referring to the beef Unathi had with Sizwe Dhlomo, @UminathiZulu asked, “Hawu, so was ‘boy mom’ targeting Sizwe when she accused him of all sorts of things there at Kaya?”
@Kokoleo_zn wondered in the comments, “Don’t these people get media training? Surely they are aware they don’t have to say anything.”
@leesaengels shared their thoughts, “Why am I not shocked that she’s on there?”
@MrsBu_ defended Unathi, writing, “Kodwa, why can’t you guys allow people to choose their own side? Just as you have chosen a side, or are you saying there’s only one side to choose? Are you saying men can’t be victims? Society doesn’t have a backbone! Many women have ruined innocent men by false accusations!”
