After five seasons of keeping viewers glued to their television screens with some of the most mouthwatering cuisines, the renowned culinary competition show MasterChef South Africa has found a new home.

The creators of the show have recently announced that the beloved South African edition of the world-renowned MasterChef will be saying goodbye to the SABC and will now be airing on eTV from season 6 onwards.

The show sees aspiring chefs go up against one another in a culinary competition that requires them to impress the judges by preparing various types of dishes to become the ultimate winner.

Speaking about the transition from S3, where it previously aired, to its new home, Bongumusa Makhatini, CEO of the franchise’s format rights holder for Africa, Primedia Studios, described it as an exciting step to bringing the show to a broad, culturally diverse audience.

“We’re thrilled to have secured a primetime slot on the country’s biggest free-to-air independent broadcaster and its complementary channels, known for serving world-class entertainment to its multitude of viewers. And, we can’t wait to meet all the contestants who’ll whip up the new season’s must-watch moments.”

The competition has been known to open doors for countless aspiring chefs, many of whom went on to kickstart successful journeys in their culinary careers.

Someone who knows all about this is the season 5 winner, Bridget Mangwandi who went on to become the youngest title holder at the tender age of 18.
