5 Times a charm! Trevor Noah will be hosting this year’s Grammy Awards

Shortly after his talent was questioned and analysed and he was accused of eliciting jokes from others, South African-born comedian Trevor Noah was named the host of the 67th annual Grammy Awards ceremony.

The Grammy Awards, also known as the ‘Grammys’ are a prestigious ceremony presented by the United States Recording Academy and aims to shine a light and give props to the music industry’s biggest contributors, artists, producers and everyone involved in producing the music that had taken the world by storm. Historically, the awards solely focused on the American music industry, however as the years have gone by, technology has made it easier for people separated by continents to connect and share their music and culture, and the awards have become much more inclusive to the rest of the world.

For the fifth consecutive year, South African-born and American-based comedian Trevor Noah has been entrusted with the difficult task of hosting the coveted awards ceremony set to take place this February. This comes after it was revealed that business will continue as usual after a few shifts and rescheduling of a few events following the catastrophic wildfires that have wreaked havoc in the city of Los Angeles where the Grammy’s are set to take place.

Trevor’s selection as host comes as no surprise to those who are familiar with his work and have followed the Grammys throughout the years. The comedian has proven on more than one occasion that he is capable of handling a crowd and occasion of such great magnitude. His extensive resume speaks for itself, and he has shown the American audience that his adaptability, confidence, and witty nature are more than enough to curate an enjoyable vibe for the Grammy audience.

It appears the comedian is on a mission to prove that he is no one trick pony as he will also be working behind the scenes as a producer of the show. If that is not enough, mzansi’s comedic genius is also up for a nomination in the ‘Best Comedy Album’ category for his latest offering coined ‘Where Was I’, and will be going up against American comedy legends Dave Chappelle, Nikki Glaser, Ricky Gervais and Jim Gaffigan.
