This year, the 16th Annual Feather Awards promises to be a night filled with celebration and heartfelt tributes as Dineo Langa takes the helm as host.

The actress and media personality has dedicated her hosting duties to the memory of her fallen gay uncles, who played a crucial role in shaping her understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.

According to SowetanLIVE, Dineo will be joined by the former Uzalo actor Khaya Dladla and sign language interpreter Andiswa Gebashe.

Dineo expressed to the entertainment publication that growing up with LGBTQIA+ uncles helped her understand diversity naturally. Excited about hosting this year’s Feather Awards, she believes she will connect well with her co-host Khaya and aims to make it a memorable event, particularly in terms of fashion.

“I didn’t have to wrap my mind around what diversity was growing up because I was raised with LGBTQIA+ uncles, who were free to be themselves[..]So, I’m quite excited about hosting this year. I think Khanya and I will get along and this one will be a fun one for the books.”
