Bafana Bafana veteran Simphiwe Tshabalala has recently celebrated a milestone birthday.
Known for his rapid speed and being the first person to score a goal at the 2010 Fifa World Cup, Simphiwe has found a special place in the hearts of many South Africans over the last decade – and now South Africans have had the opportunity to finally celebrate him for his contributions in sport.
Taking to Instagram he shared a post celebrating his 40th birthday.

However, it was a follow-up post that melted the hearts of many social media users. This comes after his wife Bokang shared a touching post celebrating him for the person he is.
In the post, she wrote:
“I was 24 and you were 26 when we met and all I know is I am blessed to have a front seat in your life. I am truly humbled to be a witness to your incredible life.”
“Thank you for being the inspiration you are to people, for honouring your calling in so many ways and for so much compassion for people and being a giver.”
Before concluding she wrote: “I hope your 40’s are even better than your 20s and 30s. I hope Modimo continues to give you a favour. I hope you continue to walk in God’s grace and I hope God continues to surround you, protect you and show off with you.”
Furthermore, she shared a video in which the birthday boy was all too happy to show that he is far from old while showing off a couple of dance moves, while his son directs from behind the cellphone camera.
