Skhumbuzo Mazibuko popular by her stage name, Midnight Uzo breaks away from her mom’s legacy as she cements herself in the music industry.

Midnight Uzo, recently released her latest single Hayi; which features one of the prominent Kwaito musicians in the industry, Professor born as Mkhonzeni Langa. According to TshisaLIVE, the Afro-house single encapsulates the use of auxiliary sounds, emotive lyrics, and a jazzy melody.

Speaking to the publication, the singer, songwriter, and trombone player shared more about the song and the inspiration behind it.

“Hayi is essentially a love song about longing to see someone dear to me. People can interpret it how they wish in their own lives. It can be the longing to see a partner, family, or friend, but it is essentially a song of longing for love,” she said.

Daughter to ANC’s former Women’s League President, Bathabile Dlamini, she also added that working with Professor was a tick from her bucket list. She said that having his kwaito voice to the song made a huge difference. The song has an international sound, however, his lyrical prowess made it relatable to home.

Recently, the star took to her Instagram page to share that the song has been released and shared a link it can be streamed from.
