The high-profile rape trial of Pastor Timothy Omotoso, along with his co-accused Zukiswa Sitho and Lusanda Sulani, resumed at the Gqeberha High Court.
The case, which has captured national attention, continues to unfold with new testimonies and evidence being presented.
SABC News reports that during the last court appearance, the defence requested Judge Irma Schoeman to drop all charges against the accused, arguing that the case was unconstitutional and unfair due to the alleged questionable and unethical conduct of former prosecutor Nceba Ntelwa.
The trial began in 2018, with the first witness Cheryl Zondi, testifying that Pastor Timothy allegedly sexually groomed and raped her from the age of 14.
According to the publication, The charges against Omotoso and his associates stem from accusations made by several women who claim to have been sexually abused and exploited by the pastor.
The alleged incidents reportedly took place over several years, involving young women who were part of his church. The case has been marked by dramatic courtroom scenes and emotional testimonies from the victims.
Key witnesses have provided detailed accounts of the alleged abuse, painting a grim picture of manipulation and exploitation including former Idols SA contestants Anele and Neliswa Mxakaza shared their troubling experiences with the pastor, having lived in one of his homes for a year.
In an interview with SABC News on Special Assignment, they recounted how he requested intimate massages and how Neliswa was sexually assaulted by him, after the assault, Omotoso would pray for forgiveness.
