A trench coat is a classic item that we should have in our closet as it can be won through all the seasons, with just about anything.

This wardrobe staple that has been around for many centuries has certified itself as a fashion statement for both men and women.

One of the things that make this double breasted coat special is its versatility as it fits perfectly with jeans, pants, dresses and just with heels as a dress.

Some trench coats come with a detachable inner that can be removed when one wants to wear it on the not so cold days, and placed back on cold days to give you more protection from the cold.

Below, we share a few reasons why you should own a trench coat.

  1. It goes very well with jeans – Pair your trench coat with blue jeans and a white shirt or t-shirt and flat shoes and you’re good to go.

2. It goes well with oversized jerseys and polo necks – On a cold day, put on your trench coat to keep you warm while making a fashion statement. You can pair it with white jeans and sneakers or flats.

3. It can be worn on its own – Going on a hot date? Depending on the length of your trench coat, try wearing it with a nice peep-toe to give it an elegant look, don’t forget to add colour on your lips to give you that sassy look and feel.

4. Pair your trench coat with a short dress or skirt and high knee boots – You can never go wrong with a mini dress or skirt with high knee boots when going on a dinner date with friends or your partner. On a cold day, you can add thick warm stalkings to give you warmth while leaving you looking elegant.

5. Pair your coat with chuck tailors – A trench coat and some good old chuck tailors is never a miss! Try it, you’ll love it.
