Content creator and renowned internet comedian Ofentse “Primo” Baloyi is relishing the opportunity of showing the rest of mzansi just how versatile his capabilities are, after landing himself an acting role in a Mzansi Magic’s brand-new drama series Code 13.

The show follows the life of detective Bheki Ndlovu, whose resounding skills provides him the abilities to crack some of the most complex cases.

Bheki has been assigned the task of recapturing six dangerous criminals who fled custody after escaping from a police van, while Primo plays the role of Veli “Veja” Mohalanyane, a man who is part of the community policing forum and a valuable informant due to his ties with the community.

Speaking about on this role Primo, who is also the son of Bafana Bafana legend Lucas Radebe explained that while Veli might not be the biggest character in the show, there is a dynamic element to his role that creates a sense of relatability.

He says that his character is both funny and street smart, and even though it seems as if he doesn’t know what he is doing, his contributions are impactful.

In conversation with news and entertainment publication Sunday World he said: “I am blessed they gave it to me, because there is a piece of him in everyone.”

“Viewers should expect intensity and relatability. Let it build up and don’t be impatient because it unfolds to be a beautiful and interesting story.”

Aside from his initial role in Lingashoni and the upcoming Code 13, Primo is largely known for his comedic impressions and short skits on the social media platform TikTok. Here, he has become so popular that he built himself a solid following of more than 1.1 million users.

Touching on this, he told the above-mentioned publication that acting has always been a passion of his.

“I have always been an actor, even with my content-creating, I define it as acting, where I put jokes and a lot more context and make it my own. Throughout my whole life I have always wanted to act. I’ve always been writing and acting since I got the opportunity at school.”

He further explained that lately he has received characters that are usually very serious, but that he then brings a bit of comedy to that character.

“It’s natural, and I don’t get told they know how they want the comedy to come out. I have a natural sense of comedic timing; I use my face very well and I take a lot of risks. It is part of my personality to break seriousness with comedy.”

Other familiar faces who can be seen on the show include Aluve Mjali, Zikhona Bali and Thami Mngqolo.

Code 13 premiers on 14 April on Mzansi Magic 161.
