Award-winning actress and one of the most loved television faces Zikhona Sodlaka recently shared news that left her fans and followers sad, hinting at her exit from the popular Mzansi Magic telenovela Gqeberha: The Empire.

Zikhona has been with the Eastern Cape-based show since it began in January 2023. The show replaced Mzansi Magic’s popular telenovela The Queen which ran for almost seven years.

On the show, Zikhona played Bulelwa Mxenge, also known as Bullet. The first wife of four wives married to ruthless businessman Luzuko Mxenge. A praying, tolerant woman who would do anything for her family, Bullet’s character became one of the most loved characters on the show.

Announcing what many saw as an official goodbye, Zikhona shared a video of some behind-the-scenes moments with some of the cast members. She captioned her post:

“What a Pleasure, an Honor and a Privilege it is to do what I do with all my heart. Thank you, God, for the Gift I didn’t ask for & for paving my path, Always. Ndi bamba ngazo zozibini, kuni nonke…

Internet users commented on the versatile actress’s post, begging for her return, with some adding they stopped watching when she left.

“Please come and save this soapie it’s lost the plot the actors are brilliant, but the script is mediocre.”

Some refused to accept what they saw as goodbye, commenting:

“This post feels like a goodbye and andifuni uyamukela lonto umbuzo wam munye nje, ingabe sisazokubona okanye Hai awsabuy so that ngzosale ngingasabuki njengoba sengingasabuki vele (I don’t want to accept that. My only question is, are we going to see you or not so that I continue not watching, as I have).”

“The way I love you and my viewership ends when your storylines end my worst toxic trait.”

“Please do come back, I’m so lost in this new Season, I can’t even bring myself to watch it.”

“Please come back, we miss you…. what’s the point of having a gun without ‘bullets’.”
