While the excitement of matric top performers fills the air, we must be mindful of the matrics who were not successful or did not reach the accomplishments that they were hoping for. The pressures of being a matric student are something many of us have experienced before. While there’s a commotion on the many successful candidates, we must pay as much attention to those who were not successful.

We all understand what a big deal matric is for us all. For many, matric is our one chance to change our family circumstances and secure the one ticket that will lay the foundation for a better life. However, being unsuccessful in passing your Nationa Senior Certificate exams is not the end of the road.

If you were part of the class of 2023 and did not pass then be sure to push through and give it another attempt. Our life circumstances are not the same and while you remember that, do not be quick to compare yourself to your peers.

South African singer and actress Nandi Madida reminded unsuccessful candidates, “Life is not a sprint but a marathon.”

“For those who have failed, use this opportunity to pick yourself up and try again. Yes, you have learned the most important skill to have in life and that is never to give up,” she stated. Giving an example of someone dear to her Nandi explains that she had a friend who had to attempt matric more than once and today that person is one of the top marketers in the country.

She further congratulates those who passed and tells them to continue excelling.

She continues with her advice to unsuccessful candidates and says “We will all fail in life but do not give up.  I am sending you so much love and all the best for the future, nothing is impossible to a willing heart. Do not give up.”
