AmaZulu boss’s daughter and soccer player celebrate wedding

by Kaylum Keet

Daughter of AmaZulu boss, Sinenjabulo Zungu, and the club’s striker Bongi Ntuli took their relationship to the next level when they tied the knot over the weekend. The couple celebrated their wedding traditionally on Sunday with close friends and family. Their wedding comes as no surprise as publications such as ZiMoja recently reported on the couple’s engagement.

The couple’s umembeso was held at Sinenjabulo’s father’s private residence, in the Midlands. The AmaZulu club owner, Sandile Zungu, was present to give his daughter away to her new family. Most guests appeared in black and white, to honour the theme of the wedding. The isiZulu traditional event forms part of the process of a traditional isiZulu wedding – that celebrates the union between two families and is usually done once lobola has been paid and involves the exchange of gifts. Zungu’s older brother, Bongi, was the master of ceremonies.

Noticeable guests who attended the wedding include businessman Moses Temba, AmaZulu players Ramahlwe Mphahlele, George Maluleka Dumisani Zuma, Mbongeni Gumede, Samkelo Mgwazela, Thembela Sikhakhane and Sibusiso Mabiliso.

Former club director, Manzini Zungu, was nowhere to be seen at the event, according to ZiMoja. Manzini was fired following his involvement in a school feeding scheme scandal, that left many students starving upon their return from the Easter break. Sources close to ZiMoja claim that Sandile didn’t invite Manzini as he didn’t want to ruin his daughter’s big day, further stating that, Manzini attending the wedding would cause scrutiny from the media.

The white wedding will reportedly take place in Summer at Sandile’s wedding venue, Zungu Land.
