As fans and family members mourn the death of  Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and attempt to cope with his sudden loss, Nadia Nakai took some time out to talk about her slain lover and reflect on the fun times the couple had.

Nadia was speaking at the premiere event of AKA’s newly-released album, Mass Country. The album premiered on Friday, February 24.

The couple worked together on the song Dangerous, which was featured on the album.

“It was like a part of our love language. It was something we used to do, just the two of us in the living room. It was amazing that the moment we’d get together and make music it was from a lovers’ perspective and not just two artists collaborating together,” Nadia said.

Nadia said that she and AKA would imagine themselves to be Beyonce and Jay Z.

“Kiernan and I would use to always imagine we’re Beyonce and Jay Z  and watching like when they’re performing at Coachella or Beyonce’s show and we’d be in the lounge drunk as f***!

“Drunk as hell but we were like literally fanning ourselves and it was exciting, so we knew that we needed a song together because when he was going to do his show, we wanted to have our own moment like that on stage because that’s what we looked up to,” she said.

One fan expressed sadness knowing that South Africans could have had their own Jay-Z and Beyonce type of relationship to gush over in the form of AKA and Nadia Nakai.

“Ooh gosh! So we were robbed of those kinda Jazee and Beyonce performed from our own AKA & Nadia,” wrote the tweep.
