Things you should never apologise for in a relationship

It is part of human nature to make mistakes. Mistakes are bound to happen every single day however not all of them warrant an apology.

We all come into relationships with baggage, trauma and fears. Therefore, whatever mistake you may make, for as long as it is not detrimental or harmful towards your relationship then you should not feel obligated to apologise.

Here are five things you should never apologize for in a relationship:

Your baggage

Everyone has a past, in that past contains things that we are unable to get rid of. For as long as you are able to deal with this baggage then you do not have to apologise for it. For example, there is absolutely nothing you can do about an ex that cannot get over you, as long as you are not enabling or entertaining them then there is no need to apologise to your partner.

Another example is apologising for putting your siblings first. You shouldnt have to apologise for prioritising your siblings especially if you are all theyve got. In this case, your partner should be understanding of your situation.

Passions and hobbies

It is okay to have different passions and hobbies, as a couple you do not have to do every single thing together. For example, your partner might like to hang out and play soccer with his friends in his free time whereas you would like to put on some classical music and write or paint in your free time.

Personal beliefs and opinions

Your partner does not have to be an identical version of you. You may have different opinions concerning the same issue, and you don’t have to agree all the time.

Saying No

It is normal to not want to hurt your partner’s feelings by saying no to them. However, saying yes to everything will result in some bad decisions that you might later end up regretting.
