Sjava removed from Cape Town International Jazz Festival line-up

Award-winning musician Sjava has been removed from Cape Town International Jazz Festival line-up. The annual festival announced the news on social media. It said in part, “PLEASE NOTE: Due to the seriousness of the allegations levelled against Sjava, the Management of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival has withdrawn Sjava’s performance from the CTIJF 2020 line up.”

This follows an article published in Sunday World about a case alleging rape and abuse filed by Lady Zamar against her fellow musician and former boyfriend, Sjava. The publication says it has seen the documents of the case which detail the incident.

Both stars were billed to perform at the festival which takes place on 7 and 28 March 2020 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
