USA’s World Cup campaign ends

Playing in front of a packed home crowd, the Americans entered the knockout clash with high expectations after an impressive group-stage campaign and a confident 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32. However, Belgium proved too strong, punishing defensive mistakes and dominating key moments of the match.

Belgium took control early with a composed attacking display, building a comfortable lead before the United States managed to pull one goal back. Any hopes of a dramatic comeback were quickly extinguished as Belgium added further goals to secure an emphatic 4-1 victory and a place in the quarterfinals.

The US hit back in the 31st with Malik Tillman’s equaliser, but the Belgians had a quick response, and Charles De Ketelaere was on target again just two minutes later.
