Orlando Pirates are reportedly exploring a move for Stellenbosch FC goalkeeper Dublin Boon as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Orlando Pirates eye goalkeeping reinforcements

Pirates have been active in the transfer market as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for domestic honours and making a strong impact in continental competitions. Strengthening the goalkeeping department appears to be one of the club’s priorities.

With increased competition for places expected, the Soweto giants are assessing their options, and Boon has emerged as one of the names under consideration.

The Stellenbosch FC goalkeeper has steadily built a reputation as one of the country’s promising young keepers.

His composure on the ball, shot-stopping ability and confidence between the posts have reportedly caught the attention of Pirates’ recruitment team.

A move to Orlando Pirates would represent a significant step in Boon’s career, offering him the opportunity to compete at one of South Africa’s biggest clubs.

Talks underway with Stellenbosch FC

According to iDiski Times, discussions between Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC are underway as the clubs explore the possibility of a transfer.

While negotiations are believed to be in their early stages, no agreement has been reached yet.

The outcome of the talks could depend on several factors, including the transfer fee, contractual terms and the willingness of both clubs to finalise a deal before the transfer window closes.

Should the transfer materialise, Boon would face stiff competition for a place in Pirates’ starting line-up.

The club already boasts experienced goalkeepers, meaning the young shot-stopper would need to impress in training and seize any opportunities that come his way.

Healthy competition could strengthen Pirates’ goalkeeping department as they prepare for a demanding campaign across multiple competitions.
