Match day: Sundowns set for AmaZulu showdown at Loftus

It is match day in the Betway Premiership as Mamelodi Sundowns welcome AmaZulu to Loftus Versfeld this evening, with both sides looking to strengthen their positions near the top of the early-season table. 

Kick-off is scheduled for 7.30pm, with the fixture taking place at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. The match is part of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.

Sundowns looking to bounce back

Sundowns enter the fixture after suffering their first defeat of the season, a setback against Golden Arrows in the MTN8 semi-final first leg.  

The result gives Miguel Cardoso’s side an immediate opportunity to respond in the league. The Brazilians have made a positive start to their Premiership campaign, collecting seven points from their opening three matches.

AmaZulu will provide a difficult test for the giants as the Durban-based team makes an encouraging start to the new campaign and is among teams competing near the top of the standings. 

With Orlando Pirates having won yesterday, the maximum points are particularly valuable for both Sundowns and AmaZulu as they attempt to maintain pace with the early leaders. 

Another test for Sundowns

For Sundowns, today’s encounter is about more than three points. Following the disappointment against Golden Arrows, the match provides an opportunity to restore momentum and demonstrate their ability to respond quickly to adversity. 

With both teams chasing points and confidence high, Loftus Versfeld is set for an intriguing Premiership contest.
