Hamilton, who is a seven-time world champion, finished ahead of George Russell and Lando Norris, while Italy’s Antonelli was forced to abandon in the final stages because of a technical problem with his car.

Antonelli’s title lead is now 41 points, opening space for Lewis to take the championship. It has been nearly two years since Lewis won a race.

Lewis Hamilton’s historic first victory for Ferrari in the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix was a statement to himself as well as to the rest of Formula One. This win has answered doubts about whether he could still do the job at the pinnacle of the sport he once dominated. It justifies his decision to leave Mercedes for Ferrari. proving that Ferrari can get back to winning ways after a period that was as difficult for the Ferrari team.

The seven-time world champion last won a Grand Prix in 2024, when he took victory at the Belgian Grand Prix, and since signing for Ferrari at the start of 2025, he has struggled to get to grips with the car. He came off the back of two second-place finishes at the Monaco Grand Prix and the Canadian Grand Prix, before taking victory in Spain yesterday.

With this win, Hamilton sits in second and is only 41 points behind leader Antonelli.
