REVIEW: The Hussar Grill

by Kwanele Mathebula
The Hussar Grill

If you’re looking for a juicy steak plus a warm and friendly setting, then The Hussar Grill at Waterfall Corner, Johannesburg, is the place to be. By Amanda Mtuli

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The Hussar Grill

As much as restaurant reviews are mainly about the food, I quite like dining at beautifully decorated places. The traditional style of the interior decor added a warm and welcoming ambience, which I appreciated. I also loved the touch of old-world charm, vintage books, antique clocks and superb leather upholstery.

THE FOOD

Although The Hussar Grill was a steakhouse, it had a wide variety of other options such as chicken and seafood. For starters, I had prawn and fresh avocado cocktail, which was yummy! When it arrived, I was surprised by the portion size, which was enough for two people. Because I didn’t want to spoil my appetite, I only ate a bit and left the rest to take home! For the main course, I had steak with mushroom sauce that came highly recommended by Cebisile Makwelo, my charismatic waitress who was well-informed about the menu. Although I was full, I still made room for the delicious cheesecake that came with vanilla ice cream. I paired my meals with the refreshingly tasty Sophie te’Blanche Sauvignon Blanc 2019, which was delicious!

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

From the moment I arrived, I was treated extremely well by the staff, while the food and drinks were delicious. If you’re looking to dazzle your significant other, you should definitely check this spot out; you will love every single bite of your food.
